Nicole Horberg Decter is a partner at Segal Roitman, LLP. Her practice is dedicated to securing economic justice for all workers. Nikki represents Unions in all aspects of labor advocacy, including negotiations, transactions, litigation, and legislative drafting. Nikki also represents individuals in employment litigation.
Nikki savors collaborations with clients and allied organizations to advance dignity at work. Her institutional clients include the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, the Massachusetts Building Trades, the New England Gas Workers Alliance, as well as regional councils, local unions, and individuals throughout Massachusetts engaged in the transportation, utility, medical, and education industries, in the building and construction trades, and in the public sector. Nikki has also collaborated with immigrant workers centers, including Fuerza Laboral and Metrowest Workers Center, as well as non-profits such as Justice at Work and Greater Boston Legal Services to advance workers rights.
Nikki serves on the board of Building Pathways, a pre-apprenticeship program expanding access to building trades careers for women and people of color in Boston, Massachusetts. She has previously served on the Board of the Lawyers Coordinating Committee (now Union Lawyers Alliance) and has served on various committees within the ABA Labor and Employment Section.
Nikki began her legal career as a legal fellow in the General Counsel’s Office of the AFL-CIO in Washington, D.C. and continued her advocacy of unions and individuals at another union-side firm in Boston before joining Segal Roitman LLP. She is a graduate of Brandeis University (B.A.), the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana (M.A.), and Boston College Law School (J.D.).
In 2024, Nikki became a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. She is the recipient of the Massachusetts’ AFL-CIO’s Cathy Cassavant Award (2023), the Boston Catholic Labor Guild’s Cushing Gavin Labor Attorney Award (2022), Justice At Work’s Solidarity Award (2018), and Community Labor United’s Salt of the Earth Award (2015). She has been named a Massachusetts Super Lawyer each year since 2015.
She lives with her exceptionally patient family in Brookline, Massachusetts. They make all of this work possible.
